Abstract
One of the most significant scientific approaches to the theories of modern media is “convergence”. In the meantime, one of the modern phenomena of cyberspace is “Twitch” social media in the specialized domain of games; the medium which enjoys a high penetration rate among the users due to its uniqueness. This paper is to uncover the analytical framework of Twitch from information science and based on the theoretical approach of “global cyber convergence” perspectives, and to discover what are its dimensions and components. Using the directed qualitative content analysis method, this paper shows that the social media of Twitch is one of the forerunners of the convergence arena in cyberspace, and this property is realized in this system perfectly. Convergences in: the act of communication (playing the roles of the communicator and the communicatee simultaneously), communication messages (sending text, voice, image, and film simultaneously), media (the composition of the game with cinema, television, and social media), communication functions (educational, entertaining, informative, identity-creation, economic, and mobilizing aspects), communication degrees (from the most intrinsic to the most general communication), and, finally, infrastructures (among telecommunications, computers, and the media) are among the convergence evidence that is deeply and thoroughly observable in Twitch and leads to its increasing attractiveness.
