Investigation of the Presence of Girls in the Cyberspace

Abstract
The present research was conducted to study girls' understanding and perception of being in virtual space with a qualitative approach (case study). The sampling method is purposeful non-probability. A semi-structured interview was conducted with 15 single female students who use virtual space, internet and social networks, and the process of interviewing continued until reaching data saturation. In total, five major categories namely: the amount of girls’ use of cyberspace, the existing themes in cyberspace, the consequences of cyberspace for girls, media literacy of girls, and the general view of girls towards the expansion of cyberspace in society, and 9 subcategories namely: desire for management of use, topics less followed by girls, girls’ favorite virtual topics, advantages of cyberspace, communication disadvantages of cyberspace, negative and individual effects of cyberspace for girls, non-expression of violence in cyberspace, multidimensional view of cyberspace and the necessity of improving media literacy of society members have been extracted
