Everyday increasing deployment of new media, has faced television as a traditional medium, with a difficult competition and challenge. But this medium, too, can apply different means to sustain its standpoint and situation for its audience. By Taking advantage of different program-making formats, it can provide suitable and attractive content for a range of audiences with different tastes. Whilst, regulating and layout of TV schedule based on a variety of TV programs has special importance in maintaining this position. To achieve this, the recognition and usage of different non-dramatic genres necessitate having a criterion in categorizing the programs. The present research is trying to introduce different genres of programs with their different features. To fulfill this goal, the article has applied the Grounded Theory or Classic Theory. The data analysis concerning genre and non-dramatic formats expresses that we can categorize TV programs into 5 major groups. Reality TV, Variety show, Talk Show, Clip, and Documentary.
