With the role of the social networks being bolded in the daily life and entering of them to the world’s mainstream media, the traditional media transformed their productions and accepted the social networks as strong competitors, and as a result, the passive audience of yesterday turned to the active audience of today. Due to the fact that sports programs comprised a majority of television’s popularity and productions, the goal of this research is to explore the ways by which the producer can, using the capabilities of the second screen, apply the screen and causes the two-way interaction between the viewer and the sports program to compensate the lack of interactive TV technology in Iran. The second screen as a side accessory (computer, mobile or tablet) appeared to accompany the first screen (TV) and relate with it. Based on Media Convergence theory and using qualitative content analysis and library study, the present research has extracted the basic categories and then analyzed and studied five sports programs (Navad, Varzesh-o Mardom, Bashgah, Football 120, and Gozaresh-e Varzeshi). The research findings show that the second screen can turn the audience into content creator and improve their ability to more than a commentator and the sports producer can, by the operationalization of the facilities to interact with the viewer, go beyond their sports data and social activities and use the motivations and information of the viewers/users to produce various categories of interactive TV programs so that the possibility of interaction and expressing the opinions of the audience can be feasible more than ever.
