Having specific gatekeeper methods based on scientific methods will be as important as setting up a medium and even the occurrence of events. Since the Galtong and Rog models are among the scientific models accepted for the process of selecting foreign news، this research was conducted with the general purpose of «A study and examine of the foreign news gatekeeping of IRIB Organizaton based on the model of Galtong and Rog».The method of conducting this research is quantitative content analysis, and its statistical population includes the 9 pm foreign news broadcast sections of the first TV channel between 2021/03/21 and 2021/09/22. 30 of news sections (Including 140 foreign news) were selected from this community using a systematic sampling method.
Research findings show that selectors and foreign news Gatekeepers in 9 pm news section have taken some initial steps to use the scientific criteria of Galtong and Rog، Out of a total of 140 foreign news items examined, the rate of exposure to the values of « References or allegories to selected nations; 82/1 percent», «the meaning of having; 77/9 percent», «negativism; 75/7 percent», «conformity and coordination; 68/6 percent» and «continuation; 65 percent» have been the most common. Since the media’s continuous attention to the negative news of selected nations is the reason for these high frequencies، We achieve that our national media has not had a balanced view of the Western world, and this bias and pessimism causes the loss of the trust of the audience and their decline.
